- Chefs opened in Cape Town on Thursday, introducing SA to the food hall craze that has swept the US and Europe. It seats 400 people in an environment intended to emulate a town square.
- MD Campbell Stevenson says the 2,000 square metre emporium is the first of what he hopes will be a countrywide chain.
- The Chefs app is at the heart of operations, and Stevenson says the food hall’s sophisticated technology and economies of scale will help to keep prices affordable.
- Business Insider South Africa was among the first customers to try the dishes created by culinary director George Jardine, an award-winning chef.
- Diners can enter Chefs, in what was once the Edgars store in Claremont, Cape Town, from Cavendish Connect. There is another entrance in Main Road.
