The City of Cape Town’s Law Enforcement Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP) extends from Wynberg through to Hout Bay and Simons Town, with 4 bases operating in these areas.
The Auxiliary service oversees the LEAP Project which is focused on crime in red zone areas identified, such as Nyanga; Delft; Khayelitsha (Site C); Philippi (inclusive of Hanover Park); Bishop Lavis ;Harare; Kraaifontein ;Gugulethu ; Mitchells Plain;Mfuleni and Atlantis.
LEAP concentrates on five key generators of homicides in the city of Cape Town, which are Illegal Fire arms and Ammunition, Drugs, Legal and Illegal Alcohol sales compliance, Domestic Violence and Wanted Persons.
The first 500 LEAP Officers graduated in 2020 with a further 500 LEAP Officers unable to do so in 2021 due to the COVID Pandemic.
