The Chrysalis Academy is a social crime prevention and youth development organisation, which empowers young people “at risk” to take responsibility for their personal growth.  To achieve its vision and mission, the Academy provides these youth with the necessary life skills and tools to become self-confident, economically productive and positive role models within their communities.

After graduation, Chrysalis students are encouraged to give back to their communities as positive role models by volunteering their services.

These seven graduates have been incorporated into the CIDC’s Security and Admin structures to provide them with the necessary skills and job training before they set out to seek permanent employment.

This is what one of the Chrysalis Graduates, Brandon Fouten, who is currently gaining experience in an Admin position at the CIDC had to say “First and foremost I have to say the training at Chrysalis was very tough, for example we had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning and we had to adhere to strict rules and regulations. I am grateful for this training as it has taught me respect and discipline which I knew nothing of.  Working at the CIDC  is an honour for me and I realise that opportunities such as this are few and far between.  Therefore, I am happy to grab this opportunity with both hands.  I am thankful to the CIDC management and staff for teaching me and for giving of their time to assist me.  God is good and I will continue to take all the lessons which I have learnt at the ChrysalisAcademy and apply it to my daily life.  I would like to encourage other youth to make the right choices in life and to not be tempted to always take the easy option in life because often after struggles success blooms.”
