On Wednesday 13 July at 15h10 a CIDC Cleaner sweeping in Main Road saw a suspect running from Foschini with the staff chasing after the suspect. The CIDC cleaner immediately alerted CIDC Officers close to the shop with a description of the suspect.
Officer Magwanya, posted at Grove and Main Roads, gave chase and managed to arrest the suspect on the corner of Claremont Boulevard and Station Road.
Officer Magwanya, with the assistance of a CIDC colleague, took the suspect back to Foschini. On their arrival back at the store, the shop staff applauded and congratulated them. It turns out that the suspect had been under surveillance for some while as he was suspected of returning regularly to the store to steal goods.
The Claremont SAPS was contacted and arrived on the scene within minutes to effect an official arrest.
CIDC Management is very proud of all the security staff involved in this arrest.
