On Saturday, 20 September (03h10), CIDC Section Leader, S/O Mswenya, spotted 2 African males jump starting a dark green Opel Cadet in Station Road, Claremont. When they saw him, one ran on foot and jumped into a white Mazda 323 at the bus terminus, whilst the other one drove off in the Opel.

Officer Mswenya chased after the Opel Cadet, until the culprit jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot in the direction of Campground where CIDC guards Gqeba and Sangotsha caught him.

The offender did not pull the handbrake of the vehicle when he jumped out, which caused the Opel to smash into and damage the driver side door of a Toyota Run X in Hawthorne Road.

SAPS was called to the scene and arrested the suspect.
