In a special SAPS award ceremony held this past Friday at St Ignatius Church in Claremont, it was announced that in the most recent audit of 149 SAPS stations across the Western Cape, Claremont police station came in at position number 5, a dramatic improvement on its previous performance rating in the 140’s.

Special thanks were expressed by CIDC Executive Manager, Abdul Kerbelker to Colonel Joseph and his team for this achievement and in particular to Warrant Officers Wentink, Mocke, Genneker and Constable Titus.

The importance of partnerships, such as that with the CIDC, and the cooperative exercises and teamwork in helping to improve performance were also acknowledged.

In Colonel Joseph’s address to the gathering, he highlighted nine members of the community identified as significant partners to SAPS Claremont community policing strategy including the Claremont CPF and the CIDC.

The CIDC received a special award as the outstanding partner in the Claremont area for community policing.
