He says policing is not an easy job and involves many risks, but it pays off in the end.

Zisile was reflecting back on a number of his successful cases, saying he worked harder to make sure justice was served for the victims.

“Some of my cases dragged from 2013 to this year, but I made sure that the court had enough evidence to convict the suspects. Even now I have a number of serious crimes that I know might take years to be finalised. I tell the victims to have faith in us and our justice system. I make sure I keep them updated so they know the case is still prioritised,” says Zisile.

He says he walks with confidence, knowing he has played his part in restoring the dignity of the police and giving hope that there is justice. He says being a detective goes beyond being on duty as they have to act quickly to developing leads and sometimes work undercover to get evidence.

Zisile says he loves his job and would like to see dignity restored to the role, see other police officers be more dedicated to their job and serve members of the public with ­respect.

He has plans to study further and advance in his police career.

Claremont station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Jeraad Ramesh commends Zisile, saying he is a hard worker who prioritises his cases and believes in justice. He says his experience as a detective and his successes will take him places.
