A 58 year old male, living on the streets for approximately 38 years, took ill two weeks ago and was was taken to Groote Schuur Hospital with the assistance of the CIDC. When he returned from hospital, daily interactions took place with him to convince him to go to a shelter for the sake of his health. After regular interactions with him, he consented and today he was placed into a shelter and place of care.

The CIDC wishes to thank the staff of the City of Cape Town’s Social Development Department for their role in this social success story.
