CIDC facilitates rescue of employee locked in at her workplace

On 20 July 2018, at 18:00, the CIDC Site Controller received a phone call from Zimkhitha of Khayelitsha, a trainee at SA Credit Assessors at No 10 Mill Street. She informed the controller that she was locked inside the building and that there was no one to open for her. She also did not have sufficient airtime to contact her trainers.

The CIDC responded and found Zimkhitha trapped inside the building and alerted SAPS who also responded.

One of the CIDC staff members asked Zimkhitha to provide the contact number of her colleagues who were in turn informed of the situation.

SA Credit Assessors, who operate form the building, despatched their Operations Manager, who arrived to open up for Zimkhitha who had been trapped inside the building from 17:30 until 22:00.

On the 21 July 2018, a similar incident took place at Stadium on Main. Securitas Officers, however, managed to rescue the female worker who had also inadvertently been locked in her place of employment.

Well done to all involved!
